Lately it's been my mission to check out all the vinyl albums I have, but never had the time to listen to... Same goes for The Cure's 'Boys Don't Cry'... Last song on the A-side of this album surprised me, in a very, very good way. Dat bass.
I have seen DeWolff about 5 times now, and it is no secret that I adore their music. Most of you probably know some tracks by now, but this videoclip might be new to some, so I figured I'd share. Amazing piece of art, made by Louk Voncken.
This one because it's out of the box-thinking, both musically and lyrically. A rapper recording his verses speaking slowly, then speeding them up until they're high-pitched and finally doubling himself with his normal voice. And a proper sense of humour to top it off. Well yeah i think he's quite awesome. Problem is that you really need the entire album if it has to make any sense at all, because a separate song like this one is bit torn from its context. But still, hope you like it :)
Because this album is magic. The sound of his deep voice combined with the woman's high voice, and the soothing piano melody leading them. This song in particular because the lyrics have a deeper meaning. It's a pity we had to lose yet another great musician to the claws of death.
I've 'shared' this on facebook a few times, but I just can't get over how great this is. 20 minutes, so I doubt most of you will take the time to listen to it all, but if you do; prepare for some pretty intense stuff.
Fifty, according to Paul Simon. This song... It's magic! And not only because of Paul. Actually, I dare to say Steve Gadd (the drummer) allows this song to live with his phenomenal groove!
This is one of the most, if not the most brilliant piece Pärt has ever written. He created an entirely new composing technique, demonstrated best in this particular piece, and I firmly belief he could be regarded as one of the most crucial composers of our time. I posted it before on my own blog, so i'm sorry if you've seen me use it before. I do have to add that this performance is not really the best one available, but the other on restricts embedding so this'll have to do :)
And something entirely else, because it's brilliant:

EDIT: quick question, can you guys invite people as authors as well? Or is that for admins only? Because you can invite anyone you like if you can :)
My first contribution is something short. Usually I am not fond of short songs because they are... Short. But this one is rather unique, so you might just give it a try! From here, I will let the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble do the talking:
"EMI, being this huge monster company, when they bought the first 8-track in England, they were so cheap, they didn't buy the plug to plug it in." -Ringo Starr
Lovely, learning about big recordcompanies. Anyways, just saw 'The Making of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', which made me think of this great performance of Paul McCartney (and his quite brilliant band, I love his drummer. Not as in guylove. Close, but no cigar.) So yeah, enjoy.
My first 'share' is some of the Gaslight Anthem, Jersey boys, like Springsteen. And some Springsteen, with Brian Fallon from Gaslight Anthem...love it!
Let's get this going. A modest start for me, song is by James Blake, who is probably not very unheard of, but still definitely worth checking out if you enjoy electronic music. Keep in mind that he is a minimalist when you listen to the song, it's all in the details :)
